About the event
Welcome to the lab - creative alchemists - this is a safe space to explore, expand, express.
Together we come together - discard expectations and shift the focus from a final product to the transformative process of creation itself.
During Explorations in Creativity Lab we will be…
- testing new materials and techniques in painting, printmaking, textiles, and more
(we may even experiment in creative writing at some point)
- honing a variety of skillsets
- building a unique visual language connected to intuition, emotions, and the senses, preparing you to delve into a deeper level of creation, whether at home or in the companion workshop, Creative Flow Labs.
While step-by-step instructions guide us through techniques, the beauty lies in the fact that we won't all arrive at identical results. This time will for experimenting with ingredients to craft a recipe, relying on intuition to guide us toward which shapes, colors, and textures to use. At the culmination of the explorations, we will each have a series of small creations. These we can use to build our own personalized art technique encyclopedia - to aid us in remembering how to do a certain technique - or - we can save them as "fodder" or scraps for making future compositions.
Each month, Lauren will be facilitating two labs - Explorations in Creativity Lab and Creative Flow Lab - you can enjoy these labs al a carte or together - as they are stand-alone snippets, allowing you to try new materials and techniques, hone certain skillsets, and create more intuitively - rather than classes meant to build upon each other. Packages will be available so you can choose which ones you would like participate in. Seasonal shifts and cycles will direct the themes of each month’s lab - encouraging a deeper connection to both our inner cycles and the rhythms of nature.
All levels welcome - ages 16+ (ages 14-16 may attend with an adult) - this is a safe & affirming space for all.
