On February 15th, we finally hosted our long-awaited Pajaki workshop—a gathering filled with creativity, tradition, and connection. Pajaki, traditional Polish paper chandeliers, are known for their intricate designs and vibrant embellishments. Historically, women would come together to craft these mobiles from straw and natural materials, sharing stories and community in the process.
A Warm (and Rainy) Welcome
Despite an unexpected freezing rain downpour, guests arrived and were greeted with a hands-on activity: making tissue paper flowers. This simple yet engaging start set the tone for a cozy, collaborative experience. From there, we moved on to beading, assembling the structure, and adding our handcrafted flowers.
The Creative Process
One of the best parts? Seeing the stunning variety of colors, patterns, and designs come to life. Guests swapped ideas, shared techniques, and inspired each other. Some completed their Pajaki during the workshop, while others took materials home to finish at their own pace.
Lessons & Gratitude
We quickly realized—this is a solid 3.5-hour workshop! Noted for next time.
After multiple reschedules, finally seeing a table full of smiles, creativity, and completed Pajaki was pure joy (and relief). The effort to make it happen was absolutely worth it.
